"The First Big Name
2004"
"In New York, DJs are a dime a dozen,
and it is really hard to separate yourself from the rest. I had a friend who knew Evan Rogers. He told me they have
this young new upstart named Robyn Fenty. She had not yet adopted her stage name of Rihanna at this time. He asked
me for some beats and rhythm for a song, later to become "Replay," which I did not get credit for any work on it.
The foundation beats and rhythm were changed slightly and it later became known as "Pon De Reply" which in 2005
broke the top ten on Billboard's POP Chart. It was also included on her debut album "Music Of The Sun" released in
August 2005."
"I was given a thank you letter from
Carl Sturken for my efforts. A lot of people think I am Rihanna's DJ because of Google searches and what not. Let's
me set the record straight, the photo with Rihanna that I am seen in On Stage in New York, was a charity benefit in
which I played one of my remixes of her #1 smash hit, 'SOS'"
"She is quoted as saying 'My DJ is
Hot!' This is misquoted. What she said was 'Man, that DJ is hot.' I love Rihanna, not only for her talent but for
her strength and courage. However, I have, at no time, performed LIVE in concert with her as a performer. I have
worked on the sound side of things at a few of her concerts, however I have never 'performed' with Rihanna, nor am
I listed as a performer touring with her. As far as Rihanna is concerned, I helped on her initial song and have
worked on the sound during some concerts, yes I have remixed many of her songs which get a lot of airplay, but none
have been placed on any of her albums or CDs."
