"We are in the Army Now"

In 1988, Shane was still feeling the anger of his childhood and still resentful of the group homes he grew up in. Knowing he needed an outlet he began entering into "DJ Battles" and "Street Nights."

The local group home was not thrilled about this and started a mandatory curfew. Shane found himself in trouble as time and time again he broke this curfew.

In the Fall of 1988, Shane found himself going with a few friends to a local Army Recruiting Center while on a "home visit" to Utica. Shane recalls, "This sergeant told us the wonderful things the Army could do for us, so we all enlisted."
